Serbian Dental Journal is the journal of the Serbian Medical Society, founded in 1953. The journal will publish review articles, original and scientific papers, case reports, preliminary research reports, informational and historical papers, summaries of papers presented on congresses and professional meetings, books reviews, comments and letters to the Editor, professional news and social chronicle.
All manuscripts are subject to the peer review. Manuscripts are reviewed by two anonymous referees, and if needed a statistician, too. Final decision on paper acceptance for publishing is on Editor-in-Chief. Authors are informed of acceptance or rejection of the paper latest up to six weeks after manuscript submission.
No fees are paid for papers published, and publishers are taking copyright from the author. Manuscripts arc not returned to the author. For any reproduction and repeated publishing of a part or paper in whole, written consent from publishers is requested.
The journal is published in Serbian and English.
Technical information
The manuscript should be typed in A4 format in MS Word word processing package, with double line spacing, only in Times New Roman font and letters size 12. Page margins should be 25mm and text typed aligned left and paragraph indentations of 10mm. Don't split words at the end of a line. If special signs arc used in the text, preferred font is Symbol.
Manuscript printed one-sided in A4 format submit in three copies. Numerate pages starting from the front page. References from bibliography mark with Arabian numbers in brackets, e.g. Jones (1) in order of appearance in the text.
Title page should contain:
the title of the paper without abbreviated words
author(s)' names without professional titles
the institute where author(s) are appointed
the exact postal address of the corresponding author, telephone number, e-mail address must be given at the bottom of the title page.
Summary and key words
The second page should contain a structured summary of the paper (introduction, aim, methods, results and conclusion) with up to 300 words. Each of these segments should be written in the new paragraph with bolded subtitles. Only the most important results should be indicated with the statistical level of significance.
Following summary it is recommended to list 3 to 6 key words related to the paper. Key words should be chosen by Medical Subject Headings - McSH www.gatcway.nlm.nih.gov.
Structure of the paper
Review article is consisted of introduction, subheadings, conclusion and bibliography. Only distinguished authors with at least five citations of their published papers noted arc entitled to publish review article.
Original paper should have following subheadings: introduction, aim. methods, results, discussion, conclusion and bibliography.
Case report should contain subheadings introduction, case report, discussion, conclusion and bibliography. No patient(s) names, initials or record numbers should be indicated.
Manuscript
Text should be written in short and clear sentences, avoiding foreign language words and inadequate terms and interpretation from the literature. For each abbreviation, full term should be indicated when first mentioned in text except for standard measuring units. Percentages should be approximated at one figure after the point. Coma should be avoided. All results of haematological, clinical and biochemical measurements should be quoted in metrical system according to the International unit system (SI).
Entire manuscript, together with the title page, summary, text, references, illustrations and tables, must be written in maximal extent of 10 typed pages and 10 illustrations.
Tables and graphs
Tables should be marked in Arabian numbers in order of appearances, and preferred package is MS Word through menu Table-Insert Table, with clearly defined number of columns and rows. Abbreviations used in table should be explained in a legend under the table. Graphs should be in preferred package Excel for clear view of all values within cells. All tables and graphs must be printed on a separate page.
Photographs
Photographs arc marked with Arabian numbers in order of appearance in the text. Only original photographs will be accepted (coloured, black-white), with preferred format 9x13cm or 10x15cm. On backside of the photograph a sticker should be attached with the number and an arrow pointing direction of the view. Digital photographs should be submitted on a CD and printed out on a separate page.
Acknowledgment
All contributors to the papers who arc not named as authors should be acknowledged. Financial and other material support, like sponsorship, grants, gifts, medical supplies, should be underlined too.
Bibliography
References must be marked with Arabian numbers and quoted in order of referring in the text. Number of references should not exceed 30, except in review papers when no limits arc established. Use of abstracts, as references should be avoided and abstract more than two years old should not be quoted by any means.
References arc cited according to Vancouver's convention, in the way it is implemented in National Library of Medicine and Index Medicus. Journal titles should be abbreviated by Index Medicus pattern, too (www.nlm.nih.gov). When more than six authors participated in paper writing, only first three names should be cited in whole and other as et al. Pages are cited without repeating identical figures (example: 152 to 157 is written as 152-7).

Submission
Manuscript and all appendixes with floppy or CD, containing identical text as printed on paper, please submit in three copies. Floppy disc or CD should have only files concerning paper submitted for publishing.
A cover letter is needed signed by all authors and with following contents:
written consent that the paper was not previously published and is
not simultaneously submitted to publication in other journal(s)
written consent that the paper was reviewed and approved by all
other co-authors
written consent that conflict of interest was avoided
approval of the ethical committee for all clinical and experimental
researches and consent that the work was conducted under Helsinki
declaration rules.
